It's the inevitable question, but all the same, it hits him like a ton of bricks. That lightness he felt at the sight of Citra fades away, replaced by a weariness he never knew he was holding onto. His shoulders sag. Some of that tiredness creeps into his expression, into his eyes as he looks at her.
"More than a year." His voice is quiet and tight. Back home, even, there's nothing that he could have wished for more than to just see her, to know she was okay, to feel like he wasn't alone in all of this. And now that she's here, he hardly knows what to do with himself.
He exhales and though his voice stays steady, there's pain there. Obvious, perhaps, only to her.
